Dear Readers,

Hello, my name is Aubrie Taylor, if that isn’t too forward. I write you in spite of years of silence… I am writing again in what seems to be an eternity. Before I found the Spectator, I have only been writing for myself since I graduated high school in 2014 and was no longer writing for a newspaper. New to Heartland or The Spectator? Here’s a brief description of who we are and what we do. All students are welcome to write for The Spectator as a staff member or contributor.

  • The Spectator is committed to providing the Heartland community with interesting, creative, unique, relevant and inclusive information.
  • The Spectator is a vehicle for free expression. It serves as an outlet for student news and opinion and provides real experience in online journalism.
  • The Spectator makes every reasonable effort to publish all student opinion that is not libelous, profane or obscene. Student opinion takes precedence over administration, faculty and staff opinion because The Spectator is published primarily for students.
