After months of hard work, our spring sports are set to begin. Softball head coach Steve Leverton, begins his 4th year at the helm. After an NJCAA National Championship Tournament appearance last season, they begin the year ranked #19 nationally.  New to the Hawks family, baseball head coach Brian Furlong begins his first year at Heartland. The Hawks begin their season ranked #19 by Collegiate Baseball. Expectations for both teams are high and the sense of optimism is overwhelming.

Despite  extreme mainstream media obstacles, a very polarizing campaign and overwhelming poll projections, Trump won presidency off of urban areas and middle-classing working citizens vastly outperforming expectations while other demographics had lower voter turnout than projected. This win also means a man in the WWE Hall of Fame has become president. Perhaps this sets up The People’s Champion to lay the smackdown on the electoral college next year under the Brahma Bull party. NFL Week 8 Best

Derek Carr (QB Oakland Raiders): Carr had a spectacular performance in week eight against Tampa Bay, where he threw for 513 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. Carr now fifth in the league for passing yards (2,321) and third for touchdowns (17). If Carr continues to play at the level of intensity that he has been all season, he can end as a top five quarterback no problem. We’ll see if he can repeat his stats against a tough Denver defense in week nine.

A Brief History of MMA

On March 22nd, New York historically became the 50th state to legalize Mixed Martial Arts competition. This approval allowed UFC to host their next ppv event UFC 205 at one of the most famous venues in sports: Madison Square Garden. Amidst an abundance of hype from sports outlets and a rabid fanbase new and old, UFC 205 represents the biggest event arguably in MMA history and projected to break ppv records. This insanely stacked card spearheaded by three title fights (one featuring UFC’s most popular male fighter Conor Mcgregor) should have zero trouble fulfilling  hype. With UFC 205 representing the apex in the sport’s popularity, it seems appropriate to highlight MMA’s history.
