Dear Readers,

Hello, my name is Aubrie Taylor, if that isn’t too forward. I write you in spite of years of silence… I am writing again in what seems to be an eternity. For those of you wondering how my name might be pronounced, think tears of joy soup and you’ll be close! This will be my first-semester writing and editing for The Spectator, and it will be my last semester here on HCC campus.
After this, I will have my associates degree and I plan on attending an online university so that I can continue to work full time with Heartland Bank (there are so many Heartlands in my life) and still get my bachelor’s degree. But enough with answering questions distant relatives might ask! You probably want to know what else I have time for amongst all my regularly scheduled activities.

Welcome to the Spectator

Posted by on Jul 29, 2017 in Heartland News | 0 comments

New to Heartland or The Spectator? Here’s a brief description of who we are and what we do. All students are welcome to write for The Spectator as a staff member or contributor.

  • The Spectator is an independent, online student magazine of Heartland Community College.
  • The Spectator is committed to providing the Heartland community with interesting, creative, unique, relevant and inclusive information.
  • The Spectator is a vehicle for free expression. It serves as an outlet for student news and opinion and provides real experience in online journalism.
  • The Spectator makes every reasonable effort to publish all student opinion that is not libelous, profane or obscene. Student opinion takes precedence over administration, faculty and staff opinion because The Spectator is published primarily for students.
